DESCRIPTION:Season Opening Celebration\nin partnership with Artcinia \nTEATRO ESPERANZA\n9/12/25\, 4:00pm\nFree\, Invitation-Only \nEAC opens our 2024/2025 season and previews our VOCES Series with an evening of music\, food\, and community featuring traditional Altiplano music from South America by SONQO. \nSonqo means heart in Quechua\, the language of the Incas\, which is still spoken in several countries in South America.  SONQO consists of a group of musicians from different backgrounds who are united to preserve the traditions\, culture\, and music from their ancestors\, the Inca Empire and previous civilizations. The celebrated ensemble plays authentic Andean music with a variety of traditional instruments that originated during the Pre-Columbian times in combination with the stringed instruments brought by the Spanish conquistadors. \nFeatured performers: Patricio Acevedo\, Jorge Gomez\, Fabricio Hernandez\, and Alex Shaw. \nPart of VOCES: EAC’s VOCES series spotlights a different facet of Latin American culture and traditions each season. This year’s VOCES Series will feature indigenous cultural traditions from Latin America and the Caribbean.
