Caili Quan – Nichos Project

EAC’s Winter-Spring season and 2022 Voces Series comes to an exciting close with the world premiere of a new dance work by acclaimed choreographer and former BalletX dancer, Caili Quan, inspired by stories from neighborhood youth and their families, in collaboration with EAC Artist-In-Residence, Tanaquil Marquez, and visual artist, Cesar Viveros.

The Nichos Community Project is a multidisciplinary interactive cultural piece of the Mexican American community in Philadelphia. Through workshops and oral histories led by acclaimed actor/director, Tanaquil Márquez, Nichos will explore; la migra, chicano culture, la familia, Nahuatl and Mexican heritage. The community will collaborate and find inspiration to create dance, poetry and scene work from the authentic stories that have been shared.
